Mums Plugged-In: Virtual Mothers Group

Real connections aren’t measured by distance.

Are you craving to ‘click’ with a tribe of like-minded mums?

Do you feel isolated from your social and support networks?

Would you like to discuss more than just ‘baby talk’?

Motherhood with a new baby can feel relentless, lonely, and overwhelming at the best of times, but with the added pressures associated with the Covid-19 crisis, our mental health, wellbeing and relationships can really suffer.

But distance doesn’t have to stop you from creating new connections. Now more than ever, we need to work together to form a virtual village. The Parents Village want to support you socially and emotionally, to reconnect with yourself, and other new mums, all from your home, without having to make big changes to your existing routine.

No matter where you are, we will support you on your journey through motherhood.

Mums Plugged In Postnatal Support Group

Mums Plugged-In is..

  • An online postnatal support group facilitated by Kirsty Levin (Psychologist) and Lana Sussman (Social Worker).
  • Accessible to all mums with babies across Australia – we welcome first time mums and mums of two or more children with open arms!
  • So much more than just “baby-talk.” Our discussions go deeper than sleep, spew and poo, though these are the things that consume most of our time as new mothers! It’s a facilitated forum to gain insight into yourself, your new role and identity on your personal journey into motherhood.
  • Delivered online via Live Calls / Webinars, and a closed Facebook group for ongoing discussion. All you need is a computer or mobile phone. Mums Plugged-In is accessible to all mums, anywhere in Australia.

The program discusses a range of key topics over 8 weeks:

  • Expectations vs reality
  • The mother-load
  • Coping with sleep deprivation
  • Self care and mental health
  • Relationship changes
  • Body image and intimacy
  • Identity shifts
  • Attachment and bonding

and more…

Mums Plugged In Postnatal Support Group

The most difficult part of birth is the first year afterwards. It is the year of travail – when the soul of a woman must birth the mother inside her. The emotional labour pains of becoming a mother are far greater than the physical pangs of birth; these are the growing surges of your heart as it pushes out selfishness and fear and makes room for sacrifice and love. It is a private and silent birth of the soul, but it is no less holy than the event of childbirth, perhaps it is even more sacred.
